Cantieri Meticci is a collective of artists from over twenty countries around the world. In Bologna it has been carrying on for years workshops that mix different arts and people, in the conviction that to create something really new you need to look for it and cultivate it where no one has ever looked before. And so we go to suburban neighborhoods, schools, shelters, small neighborhood libraries, parishes. And we meet people: sometimes reluctant, sometimes annoyed, often eager to tell a story, and to engage in a project that (for once) puts them at the center.
The company Cantieri Meticci was founded in April 2014 by the director and playwright Pietro Floridia, after a long experience in the Compagnia dei Rifugiati of the Teatro dell'Argine of San Lazzaro di Savena. It was created to gather and mix the most diverse people, all united by a passion for theater and a strong political vocation of artistic action: refugees, migrants, young artists, citizen activists, students and university researchers, teachers, musicians, etc. ...
Cantieri Meticci realizes performances presented in important festivals not only in Italy (Volterra, Lampedusa, Pozzallo), but also in France, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Brazil, Iran. It has been participating for years in European projects aimed at investigating dynamics and processes of intercultural confrontation: Europe for Citizens in 2014, Actors of Urban Change in 2015, Creative Europe in 2016, Atlas of Transitions in 2017-2019.
In Bologna, in addition to dozens of shows, workshops, artistic interventions in the most diverse places, with the project Quartieri Teatrali the Cantieri Meticci company transforms places in the city (including libraries, parishes, reception centers, social and cultural centers, mosques, Arci clubs) into forges of social crossbreeding and access to culture, sowing the first seeds of a new projectuality.
